September 2022

2 stories · Host Life, World

September 2022 opened with a city rewriting who could host and closed with a hurricane. Edinburgh became Scotland's first short-term let control area on 5 September and agreed a licensing policy that presumed against whole-flat lets in tenements. Hurricane Ian struck the barrier islands of southwest Florida on 28 September, and Airbnb's and Vrbo's rules left guest refunds to hosts. Elsewhere, Guesty kept buying software firms, Booking.com tested booking requests, and AirDNA counted a sixth straight monthly fall in U.S. occupancy.
