May 2022 was the month Airbnb rebuilt its front page. On 11 May it launched Categories, Split Stays and AirCover for guests, eight days after reporting first-quarter revenue of $1.5 billion. On 24 May it said it would take down its listings in mainland China from 30 July. Away from Airbnb, Aspen moved to cap short-term rental permits, Ireland's government weighed suspending short-term lets, a property management software company raised money, and OYO bought a Croatian rental agency.
