February 2022

2 stories · Platforms, The Money

February 2022 was a month of strong numbers and a sudden emergency. Airbnb reported a record fourth quarter on 15 February and said nightly rates would come in below 2021. Expedia's fourth-quarter revenue was still 17% below 2019, Evolve raised $100 million, and AirDNA counted more than 1.5 million U.S. listings for the first time. Councils in Burlington, Vermont, and Edinburgh moved to restrict short-term rentals. On the last day of the month, Airbnb.org offered free housing to up to 100,000 refugees fleeing Ukraine.
