July 2023

2 stories · Markets, Platforms

July 2023 was the month the trade argued over one number. A late-June tweet had put host revenue down nearly 50% in Phoenix and Austin; Key Data, AirDNA and STR Insights answered with far smaller figures, and Skift reported in mid-July that the firm named as the source had said nothing in public. Expedia Group launched One Key, which it called the first loyalty program at a major online vacation rental platform. Casai closed in Mexico and Brazil, Inspirato cut jobs again, and London's mayor asked for a registration scheme.
